To manage (conciliate) an ignorant person is quite easy, and easier still is the propitiation of the learned;  but to please the conceited fellow whose head is turned by his little learning is surely an impossible task even for Brahma, the Creator. -Bhartrihari (Translated by Purohit Gopi Nath, M.A., 1914).
